Instant Immersion Spanish - A Review of Their Audio CD Based Spanish Learning Product
Instant Immersion Spanish (IIS) products are everywhere. Yes, you read that right, I wrote 'products' plural. The company that produces it, sells it in various versions and editions. This can make it confusing when deciding which product to purchase. Some of their products actually overlap, so if you're not careful, you might wind up re-purchasing part of a product that you've already purchased before.
The product that I purchased was simply called "Instant Immersion Spanish" and did not have any indicator to differentiate it from any of the other similarly named products. However, based upon the description on the package, I knew that I was getting eight audio CDs. These eight audio CDs are also the same eight audio CDs that are bundled into a variety of their other Spanish learning packages. So since I purchased this product with the eight audio CDs, if I purchase another one of their products, I will very likely wind up getting the eight audio CDs again, and thereby re-purchasing something that I've already bought.
Despite the fact that Instant Immersion Spanish has gotten some pretty negative reviews on Amazon, I thought it was usable, and did indeed get some use out of my eight audio CDs. My problem came up when I thought I might purchase more items in their product line and found myself trying to make my way through the confusing maze of products they have put out. It was very difficult to figure out what was next. They've got so many versions and editions of the product. For example, they've got Deluxe, Platinum, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Levels 1 through 3 bundled together, Version 2.0, Version 3.0, Deluxe 2.0, Advanced, and Deluxe Edition Workbook among others. As you can see, their products can be hard to navigate.
Regarding what kind of training materials are included with Instant Immersion Spanish, it definitely varies. The product I purchased had CDs only. The more comprehensive products contain DVDs, audio CDs, CD-ROMs, computer based training, and video games. Depending on which product you buy, you may or may not get a workbook with it.
If you decide you want to purchase one of these similarly named products, then I recommend that you purchase it from a store where you can actually read the box to determine exactly what you are getting. Or, if you prefer to purchase online, you need to buy from a seller that has very detailed descriptions of the products.
Instant Immersion Spanish is one of the most readily available Spanish language programs available today. If you are looking for a moderately priced product, and don't care to wait for delivery, you should be able to find Instant Immersion Spanish at your local department store.
