Ever since the events of September 11th, 2001, security has gone up tremendously. Because of this, many more job s are available now for those seeking degrees in criminal justice. Graduates of this field can provide an exceptional amount of services to the public. Police officers patrol streets and traffic, detectives investigate crimes and suspects, computer forensics analyze crimes, and the list goes on. These are all exciting careers with great earning potential and they are all highly respected. No day at work will ever be the same as the next or the one before and everyday you will find yourself in exciting and new situations. Criminal justice degrees are available either online or on-campus for associate, bachelor, and master level. Working on-campus allows direct interaction with students and teachers of criminal justice, however going on campus may not fit into everyone's schedule or be right for them. Online degrees allow you to fit your school work into your schedule without commuting faraway or making major schedule changes. With an online degree, you can still enjoy the opportunity to interact with students and instructors without the stress of attending an on-campus school.

An associate degree allows many students to become police and sheriff patrol officers, earning them about $47,000. To enter the field of criminal justice, you must have some college experience and degree. For bachelor degree holders, these students attain higher-level jobs, such as wardens, secret service agents, and some other supervisory positions. These salaries are around $70,000. Choosing the right online school for an online degree in criminal justice is crucial to having the best career possible for your future.

The Future of the Workplace

Monday, October 24, 2011

The workplace has constantly been evolving due to changes in technology among other things. At one point the workplace was nothing but a desk with a writing utensil and some paper. Now we have a workplace with telephones, computers, cell phones, miniature devices, and updated desk styles. Not to mention much more advanced reclining and comfortable chairs!

As long as technology keeps changing and new things become invented, and new businesses arise, we're going to see changes in the workplace. What many experts believe however is that a communal workplace is going to disappear entirely.

Most modern workplaces contain many workers. Workers need to have meetings, exchange documents, speak with one another, and therefore it is useful to have these people kept together. As technology increases, we are seeing less and less of a need for workers to be kept together. What workers need each other for most are meetings, conferences, opinions, basic communication stuff. Now, we have technology that lets us do all of this without being anywhere near each other.

Meetings are often considered one of the daily things that are vital within the workplace. Now there is technology that allows these to happen with a webcam and a computer. No matter where you are, if you have this technology, you can take part. Then you have meeting with potential clients. The same thing goes here; there is no need to meet this person in person if you can do the whole thing through a webcam service. Besides these two workplace functions, there is exchanging documents and giving opinions to other workers. Exchanging documents can now easily be done online and it is in fact more efficient to do so. With online tools one does not need to print large numbers of copies and reprint them after editing. This can all be done online. There are also instant messaging programs on computers that allow for us to speak to one another, with no need to even talk on the phone or meet in person. As you see, basic office functions have been entirely changed by technology.

With these changes in technology we're seeing companies that embrace technology and avoid the inefficiency of the communal workplace entirely. Why pay rent on an office building when everyone can just work from home or on the go and still be just as efficient? Companies that are doing this are reported to be even more productive than regular companies. The reason behind this is obvious; with all the workers liberated and disruption free, they can perform at much more impressive levels. Companies that continue with the old form of communal workplace are only going to remain inefficient, and their competitors will out do them by upgrading the new style of working.

Redesign Hydro-Electric Wheels to Run on Fine Sand For Mars Colony Power

Sunday, October 23, 2011

Hydro-power is a great way to generate electricity here on Earth, and water is pretty plentiful for the most part right? Well, not always and each time you dam up the water and restrict the flow you immediately have other issues to the flows of water, and quantity downstream, as well as the modifications you've made to the eco-system along a river or water way. So, hydropower isn't always the best choice, but it is one option which should be looked at, especially if you have a lot of fast moving water and elevation change near you.

But what about colonies on other planets, should we have a plan for hydro-power for space? Should NASA draw up plans of hydro-electric power, after all where ever we put human colonies, they are bound to need electricity to power up their iPhones and favorite search engine online. Well, what about Mars, yes, a Martian Colony, remember there is no running water on the surface of that planet from what we can see. There might be running water below the ice caps at the poles, but it's hard to say really.

So, if we put a Mars Colony away from a solid above ground water supply, then for sure we will need to figure out a way to make power, and hydro-electric power is thus, pretty much out of the question right? Well, maybe not entirely, let me explain my thinking on this.

You see, fine sand could turn a wheel or system, and we know that fine sand can flow through an Hour Glass. If we watch an hour glass we see that the fine sand flows a lot like water in a spiral vortex flowing fashion, and that ought to be enough to turn a spindle or wheel to generate power. One thing that the surface of Mars has a ton of is sand, and giant sand storms to boot. Oh, so you are thinking wind-turbine also? Well, perhaps a combination might be an idea.

The sand blows into a hopper at the edge of a crater, and then it flows through an hourglass type system and fills up the crater. Once the crater starts filling up, move the hour glass along the side rim until it's all filled in, then pick up the system and start on a new crater. You could do that for 10s of thousands of years and make it really nice and flat for future cities? Anyway, think on this.

Computer Network Engineering Learning Choices

Saturday, October 22, 2011

Computers are relied on to complete the day-to-day technological functions of a business. The maintenance of a businesses computer system is essential and without it operations would be hindered. The education required to be able to successfully work with a business in this capacity is gained through a computer network engineering degree program.

The main focus is to be able to create, maintain, repair, and update a computers network. The network is what links the information and data utilized by employees of a business. Employees use networks to perform their job and be able to fulfill their part in the businesses mission. Learning choices teach students everything from learning how to repair, create, research, and design a network system. Four primary options are available and students can work through any one of them to enter a career. The degree choices include:

*Associate's Degree in Computer Network Engineering

Students work through a two-year program where they learn how to work with computer technology. High emphasis is placed on understanding how to install, manage, operate, and fix a computers network. Wired and wireless networks are focused on to teach students how to understand the link between computers. Coursework teaches students how to perform these duties in light of the hardware and software used to create a network.

*Bachelor's Degree in Computer Network Engineering

This degree is typically the starting point for most students. This four-year degree has students studying how to create and operate networks. The focus of education is to give students advanced methodology to work with computers in this capacity. Computer architecture, microprocessor design, database design, and electronic transmission are some courses that develop the needed skills for students. These courses teach students to use computer software to design networks that can store and communicate electronically.

*Master's Degree in Computer Network Engineering

Once enrolled in a master's degree program students can choose a concentration that enables them to enter upper-level careers. Database design and administration topics are covered thoroughly to prepare students to design all types of networks. The technology and procedures to design advanced networks is covered through courses on information theory, optimization, coding, and transmission. The work required to understand computer architecture and network development is learned at this level.

*PhD in Computer Network Engineering

Education is centered on the concepts to design and contribute to research for networking systems. The advanced knowledge gained has students preparing for upper-level careers. Network software testing, quality assurance, research, advanced design, and more have students working towards facilitating the development and creation of networks.

Students can expect a wide selection of career options to be waiting for them after finishing an accredited degree program. Full accreditation is provided by agencies such as the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges ( http://www.accsc.org/ ) to schools and colleges that offer the quality education students need. Learning French Online Advice and Insights

Friday, October 21, 2011

What is the best process for learning French online? There are many learn French methods, and it is right to acknowledge that particular approaches succeed for different students. But there are characteristics which make particular approaches faster than the less effective approaches and I'll discuss these right now.

The best way for learning French online needs two features. The number-one aspect facilitates audio immersion in the French language! Number two - practice, reinforcement, and even more! Should one or both of these elements be lacking you will not succeed. This is the simple situation. Let's go into each in full!

Going to a French-speaking community is the best approach for achieving immersion. This is for the reason that you are constantly mentally reinforcing the language being spoken naturally and in the setting of real-life scenarios. The essential aspect is you are absorbing French sentence structure from the very beginning in the context of real conversations in the language. This is no textbook approach. That is right, no reading involved. This is nothing like a French class at college. This is experiencing French hourly. You will notice that the two important attributes are dealt with - the regular absorption and the immersion in conversation!

This is the reason why French absorption courses are so impactful for learning French. But it is a big investment, from the perspective both of time and your bank account. Indeed immersion courses get the highest chance of success! These are certainly the superior approach to speak the language, but not entirely realistic generally.

But what if you don't have the time, inclination, or resources to move to a French-speaking region? You certainly don't need that extent of immersion in the language to successfully master the language. You can enjoy similar results with some of the better learning French online solutions available.

This means instead of paying a great price, the only item you require is the ambition and commitment to allocate a small time every day for only eight short weeks. Is this the superior approach? For the majority of French learning needs this is absolutely acceptable.

Hopefully you now accept why seeking out these two fundamental components is absolutely essential. You must get the immersion and you must get sufficient structured practice to maximize the retention and the language reinforcement. All of this can be achieved while learning French online, at a fraction of the cost of physical immersion courses. Assuming you really desire to learn French easily! Select right and you will prevail!

You must get the immersion and you must get sufficient structured practice to maximize the retention and the language reinforcement. All of this can be achieved while learning French online, at a fraction of the cost of physical immersion courses. Assuming you really desire to learn French easily! Select right and you will prevail!

Shape Shifting Seats For the Space Shuttle and Solar Sanctuary Space Station

Thursday, October 20, 2011

Seat belts are a great safety feature for cars, trucks, and other vehicles. Motorcycles do not have any, but race cars, aircraft, and space craft do. Now I suspect that in the future seat belt systems will be much different than they are today. The reality is that seat belts are not a very good design, unless you are talking a multi-point belt system like fighter planes or aircraft. Normal seat belts just run people the wrong way. Along comes new high-tech shape shifting materials to change that game forever. Let me explain;

Have you ever put your carcass in a roller coaster ride where the bar comes down over you? It seems to be a one-size fits all system, and yet, has multiple locking points, still, it also leaves a lot to be desired. I am sure you agree although you accept this as being adequate and for the most part it pretty much is, but we can do better in the future with shape shifting materials. Imagine you are in the dining room on a cruise ship and you hit rough seas.

Shape shifting seats can conform to you rear end to keep in place - you get more comfort and safety, and the haptic embedded sensors, with Artificial Intelligent chips allow the material to mold to your individual body type. We can do the same thing for space craft, space stations, and off-planet colonies prior to quakes or incoming asteroid detection. The seat can conform around your legs, back, and even protect your heat by wrapping around your skull. It could save your life.

Airliner seats might nearly encapsulate you prior to impact, there would be few deaths, and all of this technology is nearly here with carbon-nano-tube sheet materials, which are flexible and 250 times stronger than steel. No more need to worry about your brittle bones and soft skinned shell. Since, these materials will be lighter as well, that means better fuel economy and use of energy as well.

What's preventing this potential eventuality and probable future? Right now only cost, but don't despair because the military and space efforts can afford it now. It will make things lighter, and they will save on fuel, performance, and safety. Eventually these hand-me-down transfer technologies will be available in your hybrid BMW for freeway safety. Give it a decade or so, we will get there. After all, that's my job in writing articles, introducing new concepts to the world. Hey, every idea has to start somewhere. Think on that. Share your innovations, concepts, and ideas too.

HESI Practice Tests - How To Score Higher Than 900

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

So you are excited about being in your final year in nursing and are graduating in no time but you cannot get too happy as the HESI's are looming. You may be wondering why you have to go through this exhausting process and the answer is simple. The HESI test is meant to measure your capacity to pass your final board exam, the NCLEX and they want to make sure that they can get an infallible pass rate. Which is why they will most likely tell you that you have to pass the HESI otherwise you do not get to take the final NCLEX and graduate. Usually, you will need to take a HESI practice test as preparation for the final HESI exam.

Now this is very frustrating issue for a lot of nursing students considering that they have gone through the academic program and now everything rests on a prep exam. A score of 850-900 on the HESI practice test but how do you manage to score above 900 to make it through?

The first thing is get a hold of past students and get their advice on what to expect. Some will even remember the questions that they struggled the most in and be able to give you the set up of the questions. Now most of these students will tell you that the actual test is something completely different form the text books that are available to help you pass so you will need to get a better idea of what is expected before you waste your time studying the wrong thing.

Practice makes perfect and this is the same for any test situation you may find yourself in. Do not be satisfied with just knowing your course material. The HESI tests critical thinking and clinical reasoning more than facts and the questions are worded in a somewhat complicated manner so they end up confusing you if all you have done is cram facts.

Find as many questions that are similar to the exam to ensure a higher score. Do as many questions as you can everyday and do not forget to use the CD that accompanies the texts that you may be prescribed. What most nursing graduates will tell you is that with the questions on the compact disk you tend to score lower. The HESI practice test is set to be much harder than the actual exam in order to prepare you better so do not be discouraged.

Remember that you will be taking the HESI practice test at least twice or thrice so go through the answers when you are done. The rationale for both the questions you got right and wrong will help you understand what is expected and thus a better chance of scoring higher.

The HESI practice test prepares you for the HESI which in turn is mean to prepare you for the NCLEX so take it seriously and be studious in your preparation for a better score and piece of mind.

CNA Career Ladder Program

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

The general consensus from the uninitiated is that a completely free CNA training class simply doesn't exist, as there are always hidden costs or stipulations for the trainee. With the adoption of a new Oklahoma State Department of Health (ODSH) program, in cooperation with the Tulsa Community College and Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, over $370,000 was dedicated towards the free training and certification of about 1,000 CNA trainees in 2010.

The uninitiated might be wonder exactly how much tax money the ODSH's program is costing Oklahoma residents, but the answer is, surprisingly, not a dime. The ODSH collects a number of fees from healthcare organizations in the area that are fined for not following proper guidelines, or for having unacceptably unsatisfactory patient care. In some cases, the CNAs at these offending healthcare organizations may end up being the direct recipient of the ODSH's new program, as the goal is training (and re-training, as the case may be) CNA staff to improve the Oklahoma state-wide patient care conditions. With the program, free CNA trainees are given the tutelage required to reach CNA Level 2 status, which offers a higher pay grade, more responsibility, and the opportunity to attend the Tulsa Community College for further training (up to a CNA Level 3) if they wish-but the further training is not currently covered by the ODSH's program.

For a non-taxpayer funded state program, the ODSH's free CNA training is taking the money out of those organizations that have slid in terms of patient care, and improving the conditions for the entire state to prevent such haphazard patient care from happening in the future. As a result, all current CNAs with Level 1 skills in Oklahoma will be eligible for the ODSH program to receive free CNA training. The is able to serve the program as a career ladder for current CNAs, which is very apparent from the name of the program itself: the Assistant of Certified Nursing Program of Career Ladder. With online learning components, traditional class, and clinical lab work the CNACL program gears CNA trainees to take a CNA Skills examination at the end of the course in order to rank up to a higher level.

The single caveat to the CNACL program by ODSH is that prospective program applicants must already be accepted into the Tulsa Community College in order to be eligible. An admission to TCC is not a guarantee of acceptance into the CNACL by itself, as already mentioned there is enough funding for about 1,000 CNAs in 2010. Therefore, space is limited and early applications are extremely encouraged after taking the College Placement Test and receiving at least an 80 in Reading and Sentence Skills. Applicants should also ensure that they have taken at least 12 credit hours, and maintained a 3.0 minimum GPA, in addition to having 6 months' experience working in a healthcare facility. Finally, applicants will require a letter of recommendation from an administrator at their workplace in order to be considered.

With a course load of 30 hours, the CNACL program consists of 11 course modules of 3 hours each, for a total of 5 full days of CNA training. Various subjects that are covered during the CNACL program include the following: aging and illness, nutrition, safety, dementia care, teamwork, communication, culture change, the importance of family, spirituality, restorative care, and dying. After the course, all CNACL participants are required to pass a state-sanctioned examination for CNA certification.

Again, the space is severely limited so CNACL hopefuls are encouraged to apply as early as possible. With over 66,000 potential CNACL applicants in Oklahoma (who are in the state registry as a certified CNA), and only 1,000 spots to be filled, the CNACL is an elite program with a high degree of competition for spots.

Technology Boom Served Best By Those With An Online Degree

Monday, October 17, 2011

According to recent research, many companies believe the Internet is the best way to reach consumers. In fact, around 10% of individuals who participated in the study said they would prefer to use email rather than the postal service for communication purposes and 43% said email is their preferred form of overall communication.

In today's busy world, many individuals are so reliant on technical devices they can't conceive of work without them. These contraptions make their work and personal lives accessible from anywhere. Many are starting to work from home instead of commuting every day to a centralized headquarters. As a result, professionals who are familiar with various forms of technology may be able to translate their skills into an online degree program and, eventually, a lucrative career.

This is all being compounded by new devices that consumers just find irresistible. More and more people are buying such devices as iPads and Androids, and signing up to social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. In turn, this is creating all manner of new business, from virtual applications stores to exchanges where people parlay cold cash for game credits.

Furthermore, individuals who enroll in online courses to enhance their educational qualifications could hone the skills they will need to participate in internet-based business practices, such as online marketing or education campaigns. As more companies begin to launch these types of initiatives, it is creating a new range of studies one can pursue when they consider going for their college degree. Individuals who have sharpened their technical skills through online degree programs could see improved job prospects.

For instance, applicants familiar with various ways to use email to reach people could prove particularly valuable to prospective employers. Individuals who have gained firsthand experience with extensive electronic communication could be even more desirable to companies that are looking to update their marketing or client relations departments.

Besides, most online degree programs require students to stay in constant contact with their professors, as well as classmates who are members of discussion groups. In turn, these individuals are challenged to learn how to manage their contacts while keeping up with their coursework.

The time management and organizational skills to operate this new media that are rapidly becoming required to complete a college program could come in handy in any industry, particularly those that entail customer relations. For instance, recent graduates may be able to use their web-based communication skills to devise new Internet marketing campaigns or categorize clients into more efficient groups.

Online courses can also teach clients to keep up with their work while they are traveling, as they will know which devices are most helpful in enabling them to complete tasks on the road. Furthermore, a college degree program could help them gain a better measure of their professional capabilities in a non-office setting, which could enable them to better plan their out-of-office workloads. As a result, they will not worry that travel plans - whether they are personal or work-related - will get in the way of their productivity.

With virtually every degree available, from associates to business administration degree options, all the way to MBA and doctorates, the possibilities are unlimited. Getting your online degree is as easy as signing up and taking the time to open doors you deserve.

Video Phones - Star Trek Technology is Just Around the Corner

Sunday, October 16, 2011

Do you want to know a secret? We have already turned that corner and the future is here! A Video Phone in your home today is a reality. And it has changed the very face of communication as we know it. So beam me up Scotty, and I'll tell you some more.

Now seeing the person you are talking to is as easy as picking up the phone. It is no longer a mystery of the 23rd century. It's totally uncomplicated, no PC required, and in most cases the calls are absolutely free. And YES, it is possible to use it as a normal telephone to phone locally or internationally. The best part is, that even if the receiver is still stuck in the dark ages and does not have a Video Phone themselves, you can still use your yours to call them.

And international rates? Let's just say they're so low, you will be flying under the radar of all Tele-gon (Klingon) warships. It's really as good as they make it look on Star Trek.

Now, I ask you my fellow galactic citizens...have we not suffered enough at the hands of the Big Telco Warriors for millennia? We have endure their heartless conspiracies and over-priced services for long enough. It's time for war! So let's prepare for battle, and blast them into another galaxy.

Alright - enough Star Trek before I get completely carried away to another planet! This machine has really changed my little universe though. I use it at home and in my conventional business. My business telephone bills have been slashed by a healthy 40%, and at home it pretty much takes on a life of its own.

There have been other spin-offs in our business, that weren't ever a consideration. It saves massive amounts of time not having to travel for miles to meetings. It's like having a 26 hour day. (How's that for futuristic?) That makes me and my staff far more productive. Okay, the real truth is...It really gives me more time at home with my family. Isn't that better than spending extra time at the office trying to catch up on stuff I could have done if I weren't stuck in traffic?

There is just nothing like having my parents who live overseas, see my children grow up even though we are many miles apart. It has changed the whole dynamic of all our family conversations and interaction.

My youngest son has always been quite awkward and uncomfortable speaking on the phone - even to his grandparents. But the Video phone has changed all that. He can see their faces, make eye contact, see hand gestures, body language, smiles etc. They on the other hand get to see his face when he opens the presents they send. It has just filled so many gaps that I don't think we even realised were there with the old conventional phones.

It is only a matter of time before this technology is in every business and every home. It will soon be as common as a cell phone. And just like with the cell phone, we will marvel at how we ever got by without it in the past.

Perhaps video phones are not the final frontier in telecommunications, but for now they will boldly go where no phone has gone before.

Parents Find Distance Learning Degrees Meet Their Unique Challenges

Saturday, October 15, 2011

The traditional image of college students has changed over the past few years. Although many individuals are still flocking to a new campus after they graduate from high school, many nontraditional students are choosing to enroll in online college degree programs in an effort to improve their job prospects or launch a new career. Many of these new students also are full-fledged adults.

However, many individuals who have not participated in the college application process in a long time - or ever - may be intimidated by the prospect of online forms, financial aid packages and essay-writing. It could be they had to go through remedial school before they were academically proficient for vocational or any other form of higher education. They could be new naturalized citizens where the privilege of a higher education was not at all possible. It could simply have been their financial prospects that held them back. There are a lot of reasons, but they now are out to truly better themselves.

And who are we to try to hold them back? This is supposed to be the land of opportunity after all is said and done. Fortunately, many campus-based and online colleges are creating new service departments to answer the demands of nontraditional students, such as working adults or individuals who are currently raising a family.

For instance, a Kentucky-based school recently announced the launch of a new department devoted to serving nontraditional and transfer students, The Madisonville News-Messenger reports. The staff will provide one-on-one counseling concerning the admissions process, registration and academic planning.

In addition, these school employees will give students advice as to how they can balance a college degree program with other responsibilities, such as their careers or caring for their families. As a result, these students may be able to gauge how much planning they will need to do before they embark on a specific course of study. They can also get advice about potential financial assistance through grants, scholarships and other services.

These services could prove especially beneficial to parents who are considering whether or not they will be able to return to school. Stay-at-home mothers and fathers may wish to work on their own career development once their children begin attending school. While they may have more free time during the day to take campus-based or online courses, the decision to pursue a college degree may require some adjustments on the part of all family members.

Academic counselors could help these individuals decide how many courses per semester they can handle. In addition, these professionals may be able to help degree seekers with children work with their families to gain everyone's support and help as they work to enhance their educational qualifications.

Mothers and fathers who decided to pursue distance learning school can bring many benefits to their families, including a higher salary and a greater base knowledge that could enable them to help with their kids' education. All in all, online school is a win-win situation for both the parent and the college.

Why Sending a Student to Chinese Language School in China Is a Great Idea

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Many Americans, especially those of Chinese descent, spend years trying to teach their children the language skills that they learned so easily as children. But, once you get older, it becomes harder and harder to learn a language. If you have a student who is eager to learn how to speak Chinese fluently, then there is no replacing sending them to Chinese language school in China.

By sending your child to China, even for a short period of time, they will learn the following:

- How native speakers really speak
- How to listen at a normal speaking pace

Of course, as with any place you would send your child, it is important to make sure that the program itself is a quality one, with a long history of successful graduates.

Sending your student to a Chinese language school in China may be the greatest gift that you ever give them in their life, and one that will provide with both life skills and career advantages that will pay off during their entire life. By learning the language, getting to experience the culture, the people, the arts, and being able to travel throughout China, you will be delivering a much more well-rounded person to the adult world, one that will have better chances for both success and happiness in life.

Top Nursing Schools Producing Advanced Graduates For Demanding Careers

If you're a registered nurse or a student working toward a nursing degree, you might consider taking your education - and your profession - to another level. At the advanced practice specialty level, you might work more independently, making your own clinical decisions. You might also find that your services as an advanced practice registered nurse are in great demand.

Advanced practice registered nurses include clinical nurse specialists, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives and nurse anesthetists. Where nurse practitioners might prescribe medication, and diagnose and treat common minor illnesses and injuries, they also serve at the forefront of primary and preventive healthcare services. Clinical nurse specialists might handle physical and mental health problems and work in consultation with physicians, as well as research, education and administration in their facility, the American Nurses Association notes. Certified nurse-midwives typically work in gynecological and low-risk obstetrical care, helping deliver babies in hospitals, birth centers, and private residences. Certified registered nurse anesthetists, the oldest of advanced practice nurses, administer the majority of anesthetics given to patients each year, according to the American Nurses Association.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates that technological advances in patient care, a rising increase in patient care, and growing numbers of older people are to fuel fast employment growth for registered nurses overall. Registered nurses with at least a bachelors degree are to have better job prospects than those without, and advanced practice registered nurses are to be in high demand - especially in inner cities, rural areas and other medical care challenged communities, the Labor Bureau notes.

Accelerated and online degree components in nursing and advanced practice specialties might make it easier for professionals to further their education without too much employment interruption. There are also many scholarships and grants to help pay the tuition associated with campus and online college and university courses. Job security, as well as attractive salaries, could provide the payoff. Registered nurses, depending on where they live and work, might make $47,000 to $67,000 a year, including overtime, bonuses and profit sharing, according to PayScale.com. The average annual salaries for nurse practitioners: About $70,000 to $92,000, PayScale.com information shows.

Some campus and online degree programs, including an offering from American Sentinel University, are known as "RN to MSN" programs, and they allow registered nurses to advance directly from a hospital diploma or associates degree to a masters degree. Boston-based Northeastern University, on the other hand, offers traditional and accelerated masters degree programs with a nurse anesthesia specialty, as well as a US Army Graduate Program in Nurse Anesthesia. Thanks to a Department of Health and Human Services grant to increase its program size and diversity, Northeastern University also provides many of its students, grants, even stipends. Registered nurse anesthetists are also the highest paid nurses, according to the National League for Nursing. In Massachusetts, the average salary for nurse anesthetists is between $130,000 and $150,000 a year, an August article in the Boston Herald noted.

The University of Cincinnati and Tennessee-based Vanderbilt University also provide flexible options for students seeking masters degrees in advanced practice specialties, according to their websites. At Vanderbilt University, an acute care nurse practitioner program for instance, allows registered nurses with two years of experience to work toward a masters degree without having to relocate or give up employment, its website shows. Vanderbilt University students in this nursing specialty program through online conferencing take courses on campus in blocks of time so that they're not away from home for extended periods and, where possible, are placed in clinical programs near where they live.

Most registered nurses begin as staff nurses in hospitals and, with experience and good performance, often move to other settings or are promoted to positions with more responsibility, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Where 18 percent of registered nurses in 1977 had a bachelors degree, more than 34 percent had at least that by 2004, the American Nurses Association reports. The Tri-Council for Nursing in 2010 suggested that nurses advance their education to the graduate level so that they might help fill an urgent need in areas such as advanced practice registered nursing.

Nurses often have to be caring, sympathetic, and able to directly supervise others and more, the Bureau of Labor notes. By advancing their education through top nursing schools and becoming advanced practice nurses, they might enhance some of these skills and acquire additional knowledge. Registered nurses who take course online programs to move into advanced practice specialties can practice their passion more independently, take on greater responsibilities and take their dedication to a level that might provide greater job security and financial rewards.

Chinese Language School in China - Total Immersion Learning

Monday, October 10, 2011

Learning Chinese is one of the hardest things you could ever learn to do, not only is it because the language is so different from our own, but there are new characters, new intonations, and an entirely new way of speaking to master. Even if you are one of those people who went to Chinese school as a kid, or spent a few years in high school or college trying to learn, your mastery of the language may be far from perfect. For you, and all types of learners, Chinese language school in China is the best option.

There are many reasons why learning at a Chinese language school in China is turning into a popular choice for people of all ages. First of all, because you will be taught using a total immersion method, you will be speaking and hearing the language all day long, every day. There will be days, after a while, when you won't speak English at all! You will also learn a lot more in Chinese school:

- You will learn to listen to real native speakers and listen at a proper speed, rather than on tapes that let you learn at half-speed.
- You will learn quicker because you will be forced to speak and listen to Chinese virtually every waking minute.
- You will be surrounded by other people who are as motivated as you are to learn, who you can practice with and learn from.

In addition, your time at a Chinese language school in China will allow you to travel and meet new people, and get the real-life experience of China that you can't get from a classroom here, or especially from a software package. You will learn how people really speak, and begin to converse with them more naturally, about everyday subjects.

The Future of Medical Technology and How it Will Affect You

Sunday, October 9, 2011

The traditional form of attaining medical expertise has known to be not only expensive but time consuming. We go to a doctor's office and wait for some time so that we can get a doctor to look inside our ear and tell us that there's nothing wrong with us. We've all made this trip before and there is many times where we feel it was quite useless. Thanks to the internet however, we are seeing a change come to this industry. Soon enough the days of seeking medical expertise through methods like sitting in a doctor's office and waiting all day will be over. Instead technology will bring us closer in a very convenient way.

Imagine the day when you know of a doctor that gets paid by the government to sit on a computer. He isn't useless don't worry, he's actually much more useful than most doctors. This man will sit here and answer live tweets asking about medical problems on twitter, or some other website. We are already seeing a degree of this occurring on the internet and it is expected to only get larger. There are of course a large list of ailments that must be checked on through actual physical appearances and can't be solved by a simple text question.

Consider the ones where x-rays are needed or they have to look inside your throat and under your tongue, and also ask you to say something a specific way. Ok, maybe a bit exaggerated but you get the point; there are things that can't just be asked in a text question but rather need a physical doctor and patient to be in the same room. For a great majority of problems however, one can simply find out the answer by looking it up online or tweeting a doctor. With this new way of technology people will be allowed to get their diagnosis in much faster time at a lesser cost.

Technology is also allowing for us to have people store their medical records online so that doctors can access it when talking to a patient. The idea is that with a broader understanding of the patient's history of medical problems the doctor can answer the question even faster. Many patients are showing positive support to this new system of technology where it is being tested and it is expected to only get bigger in the future. Thank you technology!

Many patients are showing positive support to this new system of technology where it is being tested and it is expected to only get bigger in the future. Thank you technology!

The PSAT, SAT, and ACT Tests

Friday, October 7, 2011

Taking the PSAT as early as you can is a wonderful idea. There are many tests that you will be required to take all throughout elementary, middle, and high school. Going the extra mile and taking the PSAT as early can will give you an advantage later in school. The best decision and choice you can make for yourself is to take me in all available tests and take them often.

The PSAT is offered as early as six and seventh grade in some states. Most students will have the option to take the PSAT as early as your sophomore year in high school. The P in PSAT stands for preliminary. This just means that it is basically a practice test to get you ready for the real SAT. Taking the PSAT as many times as possible can only benefit you. You should plan on taking it at a minimum of once per year starting in 9th grade.

By taking the PSAT early in school gives you a few advantages. The first advantage it can give you is showing you your weak areas in school. The second advantage it can give you is showing you your strengths in school. By identifying your strengths and weaknesses, you will be able to plan accordingly and study harder in whatever subjects you need to. By not waiting to the last minute, you give yourself the ability to study the areas you need work in, so you can improve your test scores. This way you are not in your junior or senior year taking the SAT scoring low and freaking out about getting into college.

Many schools also offer a test called the ACT, as well as offering the SAT. It is in your interest to take both as often as possible. They are different tests that measure different skills and abilities. The two are also scored very differently. If you do not do well on one, then you have the possibility of the other making up for it. Colleges love to see a student who has worked hard and practiced for college. If you have taken the SAT or a ACT a few times each and the colleges see your scores have improved each time, then this shows them you have worked hard and are willing to work even harder in college. Make sure you put your best foot forward to open all doors for your future.

A Free College Education Is At Your Fingertips

Thursday, October 6, 2011

If you're considering enrolling in a traditional or online degree program, you might consider sampling a free college course online. Many free college courses provide a feel for the multimedia elements that can enhance modern day studies online and in the classroom. Instruction in free online college offerings is often provided via podcasts and webcasts, as well as written website content.

Online college and university courses and online degree programs themselves are often associated with a flexibility that allows students to schedule studies on their own time. Course work can be obtained and projects filed from wherever students have Internet access and whenever they schedule time. Online college and university programs aren't the only courses with websites, however. Many traditional courses have websites as well.

Free online college courses don't always provide the opportunities for earning academic credit or interacting with classmates or instructors that their tuition-based online counterparts do. The interactive elements and instructor feedback that accompany online courses provide a true feeling for what the online learning experience is like. Reports have shown that they can improve student success with online studies and continued work toward obtaining a degree.

Students in free college courses do get to "meet" college, university and technical school instructors. They might be introduced to courses through audio, text or video. They might view video lectures and participate in assigned textbook readings that are a part of specific courses.

Free college courses are often referred to as "OpenCourseWare," and there are many of them are available online - many from well-known institutions as well. Some free college courses are provided in their entirety. Others provide highlights of what students who have enrolled in online college, university and technical school programs have enjoyed.

A University of Notre Dame architecture course on Nature and the Built Environment, for example, includes assigned readings from textbooks such "Nature and the Idea of a Man-Made World," which was written by Norman Crowe, the course professor. The University of California-Irvine's free college courses cover areas such as health sciences and allow for accessing medical course materials such as a Bristol-Myers Squibb video lecture on immunology. In addition to video lectures and web and textbook readings, some free college courses include lecture notes and assignments.

With Kaplan University's free courses online, students can learn about a portfolio development course through an interactive slide show explaining how life experiences might translate to credit. Students as part of the slide show can assess whether they're candidates for the course. Kaplan University also offers opportunities to interact online with advisers.

Many people are going back to school to brush up on skills and train for new careers. Students who take part in a free college education might become more comfortable with, even excited about, the idea of going back to school. Once they learn about the scholarships and grants for new and returning students, they might even decide to pursue distance studies at a specific college, university or technical school.

Taking Tests For College Does Not Have to Be Painful

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

Many students start worrying about their scores on SAT's and ACT's is when getting ready for college. These tests are tough and they can be very stressful. On the day of the test, your palms may become moist and you may have hot sweats. The reason for this is because you are up against the clock. Most tests are timed, making you very stressed and anxious about finishing on time, while doing your best work.

You need to calm down and relax. Relaxing may be difficult especially during test times, but you must learn how to do it. The less you worry about how well you do on a test and what your score will be, the more better you will likely do. There are many books and lots of people who offer a device when it comes to test taking time. The common theme throughout all of these books is to take one question at a time, complete it, and move on to the next. You must think of each test as individual questions that must be completed and not as one big test.

Another option that you might consider many experts recommend is to take a test just for fun. Taking a test when you are not worried about the score, will help you calm down and relax when it comes time to take the real test. Once you take it, you will know what to expect when you take it again. Research has shown that most students score higher when they have done a practice run on whatever test they will need to take for college admission.

The best option for you is to take the PSAT as early as you can. There are many practice tests that are offered in bookstores and sold online that are very similar to the PSAT and SAT. They will not be exactly the same, but they will give you a solid ground in which you can approach the real test from.

Not stressing yourself out and getting nervous can make all the difference in the world when it comes down to the final score. Make sure you get enough sleep the night before a big test. Get yourself out of bed early and have a well-rounded, productive morning. You will want to possibly go on a walk or exercise for 20 minutes, take a nice long hot shower, and make sure you have a healthy breakfast with non-processed foods. This strategy will help ensure you are in top physical shape and have the utmost mental clarity possible for your test.

Why Chinese Language School in China Is a Great Idea

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

There was a time when the only way you could learn a new language was by taking it in high school, and then again for four more years in college. If you are like most of us who have taken years' worth of a language in school, by the time you get around to actually using it, you have forgotten most of what you learned.

More and more people from all over the world are choosing to go to Chinese language school in China in order to learn the language. This is a great idea for many reasons.

- With Chinese being the most common language in the world (after English), the value of learning it for business is immeasurable.
- You will find that being bilingual in any language can increase your lifetime salary by as much as 25%, but Chinese is even more valuable.
- Going to China is an experience that you will never forget and will always cherish.

Another benefit of going to Chinese language school in China is the travel itself. Not a lot of people get the opportunity to live in another country, and until you have, you really have no appreciation for different cultures. You will also have a much greater appreciation for your home country when you return.

If there is one language that can really help you increase your employment chances, it is the language of China, and by going to Chinese language school in China, you will be able to put that on your resume, something that any employer these days would be glad to see. With almost one-fifth of the world's population speaking some Chinese dialect, there has never been a better time to learn this language. The investment you make in your language skills will pay off for years to come.

• Master the basics. Chemistry is not everyone's ideal career path. To make it yours, you might need to take up further studies to improve your knowledge in this area. And, as early as college, you should already be planning on how to pass the GRE Chemistry exam. What most aspiring chemists do is to take up refresher courses on basic Chemistry a few months before they finish their undergraduate degree. Most of the problems in the GRE are not as advanced as what many of us may think. In fact, most of them are simple but they are presented in complicated problems which require analytical thinking. No matter how advanced your education and skills are, if you forgot the more basic concepts, you could have a difficult time acing the test.

• Self-study. Some do not mind spending a huge amount of money to enroll themselves in prep course. But if you consider Chemistry as your forte, there's not a big need for you to enroll in review institutions. Instead, you can study on your own. The test is made up of four parts: inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry. Find time to review old notes and high school books. As mentioned, basic Chemistry lessons are most likely to come up in the GRE.

• Practice through sample tests. You can find a wide range of practice tests online. As the cliché goes: "practice makes perfect." Allot a few hours every day to practice solving problems. Practice is the most effective refresher. No matter how widely-read you are, if you do not try solving actual problems, answering some Chemistry problems won't be as easy as you thought they would be.

Follow these simple GRE prep tips and you will surely make it to the actual GRE examination. It will be tedious and would demand hard work but it will definitely be worth it once you land to your dream school.

Make a well-planned GRE preparation to ace even the tough Chemistry exam.

University Gap Years - Why Now Is the Time to Take a Gap Year Or Career Break

Friday, September 30, 2011

As we all know by now, extra university places are being cut in the coalition government's actuation to cut public spending. Cuts of £200m to the university budget will mean that there will be around 10,000 less 'additional places' from the 2009 amount of intake than had been predicted. The university spending cuts were declared by the Chancellor George Osborne and his Chief Secretary David Laws."We need to tackle the deficit so that our debt repayments don't spiral out of control," said Mr Osborne.

The cuts in university budget arrive at a time of unprecedented demand for places - up 16.5% on last year due to the gain of high A-level results, and a vast amount of deferred places from 2009, Making 2010 a tricky period to diminish university places. Even with an alleged 100,000 more people searching for university places this autumn than last year. It will mean that there are only an extra 8,000 full-time undergrad places and 2,000 part-time places this autumn.

The predicted great university rush of 2011 does, nevertheless, mean that you need to work rigorously to increase your chances. This year, more than ever, you need to do lots of research, make sure your course choices are prudent, and represent yourself in the best possible light.

Students should look at the best ways to increase their chances of getting into university. You might want to join the thousands of students who opt for a pre-university gap year. If so, get organised!

A gap year will benefit your application if you can demonstrate that you are doing something that is worthwhile, building upon your skills and character; many opt for instructor courses or volunteer work, which demonstrates to universities that you are doing something worthwhile.

Last year, an estimated 130,000 students missed out on degree places and caused soaring demand in gap-year schemes, so it's crucial to decide early what you intend to do. Consider whether you want to make a deferred UCAS application, sending in your form before the 15 January 2011 deadline for entry in 2012, or just apply the following year. If you do apply deferred, remember that universities will want to know what you're doing during your gap year, so write about it in your personal statement, and try to present what you will gain from the year out.

Areas of Study in Photography

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

A course of study in photography is essentially a study in the fine arts. You could prepare for this well paying career by attending one of the available good art schools. Photography has many areas to specialize in. You may be surprised to know that some photographers specialize in only one aspect of photography, and you can do the same. The following areas of study, though not an exhaustive list, will give sufficient insights to help you in choosing your course of study.

Advertising Photography
In advertising photography, pictures are taken of what is being marketed. The work can vary, so an advertising photographer may find themselves taking photos of cars one day and snapping pictures of electronics for the next job. Advertising photography is also known as commercial photography because the focus is selling a product.

Fashion Photography
Fashion photography may be what comes to mind when someone talks about professional photography. It involves photographers taking photographs of models and the clothing they are modeling. Fashion photography is in many ways commercial photography, but it is so specialized that is thought of as a separate field by many.

Photojournalism
Photojournalism uses photography to tell a story. Photojournalism is often associated with covering wars, but photojournalists cover many other events such as elections. Becoming a photojournalist requires solid training in photography as well as being a reporter. Often photojournalists encounter dangerous or challenging situations.

Fine Art Photography
Fine art photography shares similarities with other genres of photography. Unlike advertising or commercial photography though, the point of fine art photography is creative expression rather than selling something. Often, fine art photographers are trying to make a statement or capture a feeling or idea with their photographs.

Nature Photography
Nature photography may be considered fine art photography, but some often consider it in its own category. Some photographers capture mainly nature shots for prestigious magazines or other clients. These nature shots often include both wildlife and landscapes.

All of these areas of photography require a solid background in the basics. Once you make your choice regarding the area you want to study in your art school, you will get into specialized classes in one field. For example, fashion photographers learn how to make both their models and the clothes look good in their photographs. Nature photographers on the other hand are more concerned about dealing with outdoor lighting and capturing the perfect shot of wildlife. In addition to these fields of study, you could also consider portrait photography among other types of photography. Genres are also changing with more photographers using digital cameras and manipulating their photographs with software to create the kind of image they imagine.

Are you looking for the best art school with accredited programs in photography? Choosing the right photography school is the first step to success. Learn more about art schools offering fully accredited MA and MFA programs.

The Future of Medicine

Monday, September 26, 2011

One of the most beneficial aspects of increasing technology is our ability to have better medicine and a greater chance of saving lives. Medical technology is constantly progressing and the more it progresses the lower our chance of dying after an incident becomes.

One of the amazing things about technology is the new explosion if wireless communication. Mobile phones are now a vital carry along item for many. The applications they have allow us to do a large number of tasks with a greater efficiency. Now what we are seeing is a cross over from the medical world into the use of wireless technology.

Imagine a world where everything you needed to know about yourself you could see from your mobile phone. As you drive to work, you can check an app that shows you your heart rate, stress level, how well you slept, etc. This is already in the works and prototypes have already been created. Through wireless technology, people are going to be able to wear something as small as a band-aid that gives them all the necessary bodily information they could want to know about themselves. This is expected to greatly reduce the amount of bed ridden hospital patients. What they expect is that if these graphs can give us all the information we need to know about our internal workings, we can better predict possible problems and understand how to prevent them earlier on. Currently the most common reason for hospital patients being submitted is heart failure. With the help of this new wireless technology, people will be able to monitor all the necessary aspects of the heart so they can know when problems may arise. This technology is not only expected to save us massive amounts of money, but large amounts of lives as well.

Beyond the necessity based aid this technology gives, there will also be interesting perks that come along with it. A prototype for a sleep monitor has been released that tells you how well you slept at night. You have to wear a head band like device, but it tells you which levels of sleep you got the most in and how you should expect to feel. It would also display on it if you're sleeping or not, so you cannot trick someone into thinking you're asleep because all they have to do is look at the monitor.

We are seeing more and more devices like this pop up and the end result will only be positive. We can help save massive amounts of dollars by predicting possible problems before they arise, as well as be able to monitor ourselves and our internals while doing any activity. On top of this, it is expected to save the health care system billions of dollars.

Cole has been writing articles for over five years now and currently studies at a university in British Columbia. He specializes in physical health and psychology. Cole also gives information about where to start when looking for t shirt embroidery online, as well as specific information about finding custom embroidered shirts.
