International research grants are given away by many organizations. There are research councils with international operations and their mission is to build the scientific capacity of developing countries. Finding and identifying government agencies that give grants for specific purpose needs a lot of research, time and effort.

International Collaborative Research Grant (ICRG) is one that supports international research collaboration between two or more qualified scholars. Supplemental funds are also available to provide training for academic research participants in their funded projects.

This encouragement of international collaboration the grant extensively contributes to the development of international anthropology and incorporates different national resources and perspectives. With the training fund that they provide, they actually build a capacity in countries where anthropology may be under resourced.

The research project grant can go up to $30,000. Proposals that include optional training element can have more funds and that amount can go up to $35,000 of which a maximum amount of $10,000 can be spent for training purposes. If there are special circumstances these grants can be renewed to support a long-term research project.

The Foundation has a online application submitting procedure through which the applicant can do the start up thing as well as send a printed copy of the application form to the Foundation through regular mail.

The eligibility of the applicant involves the collaboration between two or more researchers of different nationalities who are working in different countries. Each of these applicants must hold a doctorate or equivalent qualification.

Priority is given to those projects that involve at least one principal investigator who is a citizen, working for and residing in a country where anthropology is underrepresented. It also must be a country with limited resources to develop the discipline.

ICRG application that was not successful previously may resubmit their application along with a copy of their resubmission statement that would explain how this application would be different from the previous application.
